A computer image is the system settings and protocols that make up the unique signature of a PC. Those settings define what the system can or can't do, what information it reveals, and what outside programs can connect.
MS Windows was designed for quick and easy interoperability, and that's great! But it is not secure after a default installation, and who know where it goes to after a number of techs all try their hand? So we designed an easy-installation set of these protocols - a PROimage.
The NIST and PROimage provide a uniform and consistant approach to Windows security.

The US Federal Gov asked a panel made up of entities like Microsoft, NASA, Hewlett-Packard, the USAF, and a few others to draft a set of guides to securing Windows desktops. The Federal Desktop Core Compliance (FDCC, later the USGCB) was born. The recommended settings and procotols were released from Classification in June of 2009 by the National Institute for Science and Technolgy (NIST).
The settings in PROimage are based on NIST 800-86 and USGCB documentation. We have slightly altered the FDCC and US Government Computer Baseline (USGCB) to allow for things like WiFi printing, and added a bit of speed to your operating system as a small bonus.
